ant-like crowds, the slurping soba, neons aplenty, incessant noise, sushi trains, talking toilets, Hello Kitty, metro jingles, maid cafes, cosplay kids, organised waste, giant crossings, outrageously priced taxis, sakura season, skanky school girls, pigeon-toes, designer dogs, fermented soy beans, absurd (amazing) game shows, fantastical anime, impossible addresses, futon beds, wacky wasabi, pachinko parlors, tea houses, incredible shrines, penis and vagina festivals, hentai porn, artificial islands, ASIMO robot, yelling store clerks, onsen hot baths, electric cigarettes, wagyu beef, miniature EVERYTHING, 100 yen shops, women-only train cars, engrish treasures, elevator operators;
is true.
But beyond the image of a society which seems impenetrably buried, there exists a mirror that reflects this environment and its people, its underside, its insides, the grungy and the 'wrong' . In another world, the unsaid can be expressed and the implied is permitted expression through art. The treasure that is Tokyo is buried deep, and it needs digging up. This is only my side of Tokyo...this is one slice of the TART.
who is the artist?
